The Eastern Antichrist

Mint, Anise, and the Cumin:

Kalon Minaret, Bukhara (4933987001)It may come as a surprise to many modern Christians (even those within modern Reformed circles) that the Reformed Faith has always held that Islam is the second horn of Anti-Christ with the Papacy being the first horn. Some may even bulk at the idea since in their mind the Anti-Christ must declare himself in the Temple and how can Islam do that if it has not been part of the church? Today, I am only going to write about the second horn. My excellent friend Carlos Gonzalez has already written a solid series of articles on the first horn being the Anti-Christ which is the Papacy which can be read here @ https://covenanterreformation.wordpress.com/2015/04/17/the-pope-the-man-of-sin-part-1/ . If you have not already done so I highly recommend reading his articles on his blog regarding the Papacy being the Anti-Christ.

“Mystery Babylon” is Rome, Not Mecca

Roma-villa

Shaun Willcock:

“Through the centuries Christians have maintained, for very sound, biblical, and historical reasons, that the Roman Papacy is the biblical Antichrist,[9] and that the religion of Antichrist, “MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT”, described in such detail in Revelation 17 and 18, is the Roman Catholic institution.  The evidence is simply overwhelming, and I have dealt with this evidence elsewhere.[10]  The Holy Spirit has given us all the identifying marks in His prophetic Word, and they are absolutely conclusive, as has been recognised by the Lord’s people through the ages.  The “great city” is Rome; it arose centuries ago, and will not (as Richardson and others believe) merely arise in the final days of earth’s history; and it has persecuted the saints of God for centuries.  But now along comes a certain Joel Richardson and says, “No!  All those Christians were wrong.  I have solved the enigma!”  This is sheer arrogance, so typical of so many in today’s professing “Church” who have no understanding of Church history and no real interest in it, believing themselves to be the most enlightened Christians of all time.”

No Longer the City of Popes

Flag of France with islam symbol‘De Villiers paints a grim picture of French Catholicism: “Avignon is no longer the city of the Popes, but of the Salafis”. In Saint-Denis, where the French kings and Charles Martel are buried, “tunics and beards now dominate, and girls are dressed in the Islamic shrouds”. If a parish is still alive there, it is thanks to the zeal of the Christian community of Africans and Tamils’…

‘”France is no longer a Catholic country”, writes Frederic Lenoir, editor in chief of Le Monde des Religions. Le Figaro wondered if Islam can already be considered “France’s prime religion”.’

Why is Francis Encouraging Muslim Immigration into Europe?

Καταβλυσμός στην πύλη Ε2, Πειραιάς 25032016 6750

This is something that puzzles many Christians.  If the pope of Rome believes that Roman Catholicism is the only true religion; if he believes that Islam is a false religion; if he is devoted to Europe being “Christian” (i.e. Roman Catholic); and if he knows (as of course he does) that Muslim terrorists are bent on turning Europe into “Eurabia”, a Muslim continent, and that they want to destroy Vatican City State itself and the Roman Catholic influence in Europe (as they certainly do) – then why is he encouraging Muslim immigration into Europe?  What is going on?

There is plenty of evidence that he is encouraging Muslim immigration into Europe, including that of the hundreds of thousands of Muslims pouring in illegally from their own war-torn countries in the Middle East and elsewhere.  Just to confine ourselves to his most recent actions and statements:

In April 2016, Francis visited the Greek island of Lesbos, where among other things he visited a Muslim refugee camp, and addressed the people there.  He sounded very compassionate, saying he was speaking out on their behalf, calling the world’s attention to their plight.  He called them “brothers and sisters”.[1]  And in a joint declaration signed by Francis and two Eastern Orthodox religious leaders while on Lesbos, the tone once again sounded compassionate, as they called on the international community to come to the aid of the refugees and pleaded for an end to the wars in the Middle East.[2]

And then, at the conclusion of his trip, Francis brought three refugee families back to Rome with him!  The Jesuit director of the Vatican’s press office said in a statement, “The pope has desired to make a gesture of welcome regarding refugees, accompanying on his plane to Rome three families of refugees from Syria, 12 people in all, including six children.”  All the members of these families were Muslims.  The Vatican said it would take responsibility for maintaining them.[3]  This was nothing but a deliberate, well-planned PR exercise, and of course it went down very well with liberals and leftists everywhere.

Why, then, is Francis doing these things?

Politically, Socially, and Legislatively

Apocalypse_25._The_angels_pour_out_their_vials_of_wrath._Revelation_16._Merian._Phillip_Medhurst_Collection

Rev. Alan Cairns describes the current three-pronged attack against Christianity:

“We are in a battle with an enemy that is more ferocious and fearsome than the Philistines ever were. The cause of Jesus Christ across the world is under attack from militant Islam, from Romanism now dressed up as almost evangelicalism. It is under attack from Humanism. The gospel of Jesus Christ is under attack politically, socially, legislatively. It is under attack from the outside. It is under attack from apostates on the inside. The gospel of Jesus Christ is nowadays under serious and terrible attack. We all know that. You look at what has happened in your own lifetime, unless you are one of the very young and I think even the very young could probably, if they had the wherewithal to do the search, they could trace even what has happened in their few years. But look at your own lifetime and see what has happened in your own nation. And it is incredible. It is utterly beyond belief.”

It seems to me that this was prophesied thousands of years ago.  If this isn’t a fulfillment of Revelation 16 and Armageddon, I don’t know what is:

Revelation 16:13-16:  And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon [Humanism/Paganism], and out of the mouth of the beast [Romanism and apostate Protestantism], and out of the mouth of the false prophet [Islam]. For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.   Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.  And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.

Here is Albert Barnes’ Notes on the Bible on the above passage so you can see how it eerily parallels what Rev. Cairns is describing [color added]:

Revelation 16:13

And I saw three unclean spirits – They assumed a visible form which would well represent their odiousness – that of frogs – but still they are spoken of as “spirits.” They were evil powers, or evil influences (Revelation16:14, “spirits of devils”), and the language here is undoubtedly designed to represent some such power or influence which would, at that period, proceed from the dragon, the beast, and the false prophet.

Like frogs – βατράχοι  batrachoi. This word does not occur in the New Testament except in the passage before us. It is properly translated frogs. The frog is here employed clearly as a symbol, and it is designed that certain qualities of the “spirits” here referred to should be designated by the symbol. For a full illustration of the meaning of the symbol, the reader may consult Bochart, Hieroz. P. II. lib. v. cap. 4. According to Bochart, the frog is characterized, as a symbol:

(1)    for its rough, harsh, coarse voice;
(2)    on this account, as a symbol of complaining or reproaching;
(3)    as a symbol of empty loquacity;
(4)    as a symbol of heretics and philosophers, as understood by Augustine;
(5)    because the frog has its origin in mud, and lives in mud, as a symbol of those who are born in sin, and live in pollution;
(6)    because the frog endures all changes of the season cold and heat, summer, winter, rain, frost – as a symbol of monks who practice self-denial;
(7)    because the frog though abstemious of food, yet lives in water and drinks often, as a symbol of drunkards;
(8)    as a symbol of impudence;
(9)    because the frog swells his size, and distends his cheeks, as a symbol of pride.

See the authorities for these uses of the word in Bochart. How many or few of these ideas enter into the symbol here, it is not easy to decide. We may suppose, however, that the spirits referred to would be characterized by pride, arrogance, impudence, assumption of authority; perhaps impurity and vileness, for all these ideas enter into the meaning of the symbol. They are not here, probably, symbols of persons, but of influences or opinions which would be spread abroad, and which would characterize the age referred to. The reference is to what the “dragon,” the “beast,” and the “false prophet” would do at that time in opposing the truth, and in preparing the world for the great and final conflict.

Out of the mouth of the dragon – One of which seemed to issue from the mouth of the dragon. On the symbolic meaning of the word “dragon,” see the notes on Revelation 12:3. It, in general, represents Satan, the great enemy of the church; perhaps here Satan under the form of paganism or paganism, as in Revelation12:3-4. The idea then is, that, at the time referred to, there would be some manifestation of the power of Satan in the pagan nations, which would be bold, arrogant, proud, loquacious, hostile to truth, and which would be well represented by the hoarse murmur of the frog.

And out of the mouth of the beastThe papacy, as above explained, Rev. 13. That is, there would be some putting forth of arrogant pretensions; some loud denunciation or complaining; some manifestation of pride and self-consequence, which would be well represented by the croaking of the frog. We have seen above (notes on Revelation16:5-6), that although the fifth vial was poured upon “the seat of the beast,” the effect was not to crush and overthrow that power entirely. The papacy would still survive, and would be finally destroyed under the outpouring of the seventh vial, Revelation 16:17-21. In the passage before us we have a representation of it as still living; as having apparently recovered its strength; and as being as hostile as ever to the truth, and able to enter into a combination, secret or avowed, with the “dragon” and the “false prophet,” to oppose the reign of truth upon the earth.

And out of the mouth of the false prophet – The word rendered “false prophet” –  ψευδοπροφήτου  pseudoprophētou – does not before occur in the Book of Revelation, though the use of the article would seem to imply that some well-known power or influence was referred to by this. Compare the notes on Revelation 10:3. The word occurs in other places in the New Testament, Matthew 7:15; Matthew 24:11, Matthew 24:24; Mark 13:22; Luke 6:26; Acts 13:6; 2 Peter 2:1; 1 John 4:1; and twice elsewhere in the Book of Revelation, with the same reference as here, Revelation 19:20; Revelation 20:10. In both these latter places it is connected with the “beast:” “And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet”; “And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are.” It would seem, then, to refer to some power that was similar to that of the beast, and that was to share the same fate in the overthrow of the enemies of the gospel. As to the application of this, there is no opinion so probable as that it alludes to the Muhammedan power – not strictly the Turkish power, for that was to be “dried up,” or to diminish; but to the Muhammedan power as such, that was still to continue for a while in its vigor, and that was yet to exert a formidable influence against the gospel, and probably in some combination, in fact, if not in form, with paganism stud the papacy. The reasons for this opinion are:

(a)    that this was referred to, in the former part of the book, as one of the formidable powers that would arise, and that would materially affect the destiny of the world – and it may be presumed that it would be again referred to in the account of the final consummation, see Revelation 9:1-11;
(b)    the name “false prophet” would, better than any other, describe that power, and would naturally suggest it in future times – for to no one that has ever appeared in our world could the name be so properly applied as to Muhammed; and,
(c)    what is said will be found to agree with the facts in regard to that power, as, in connection with the papacy and with paganism, constituting the sum of the obstruction to the spread of the gospel around the world.

It would be easy to despair in such days, but remember the promised outcome:

Revelation 17:14:  These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.

The Pope of Rome in Three African Countries 2015: Why Now?

Via Shaun Willcock at Bible Based Ministries:

Why did Francis I, the pope of Rome, travel to three African countries (Kenya, Uganda and the Central African Republic) in November 2015?

Every papal trip, it doesn’t matter where in the world it is, has a definite purpose, and usually more than one.  Neither the pope, nor anyone else in the Vatican, wakes up one morning and says, “Let’s go to X, Y or Z – it’ll be fun.”  Nothing is by coincidence, nor merely on a whim.  Every single Papal destination is carefully and purposefully selected.  There are reasons for every single trip.  And it was no different with Francis’ three-nation trip to Africa in November 2015.

Reasons for the Trip

The first reason for his visit: the rapid spread of Islam in Africa, including in places where African Roman Catholicism is strong, and even growing.  The Vatican’s interfaith movement, for all its talk about “the need for religions to live in harmony” and “mutual respect” and all the rest, has only one true long-term objective: the neutralising and eventual elimination of all other religions.  Francis well knows that the world’s two largest and most powerful religions are clashing across the world – and as he fervently believes that Roman Catholicism must become the world’s dominant (and eventually the world’s only) religion, Islam must be curtailed.  It was time to hype up his vast African flock to draw a line in the sand and resist the spread of Islam.  Time to make them feel proud to be Roman Catholics, and to promote the message that Roman Catholicism must increase, while Islam must decrease.

The second reason for his visit: the rapid spread, in Africa, of western secularism and hedonism.  As the Roman Catholic religion grows in Africa –which it is doing in leaps and bounds – it is important for the Vatican to curtail the increasing influence of western secular “values”, including the west’s promotion of homosexuality and anti-religion.  But note carefully: the Vatican is a chamaeleon, as is Francis himself.  The colours will change according to the audience.  In America, Francis toned down his anti-homosexual stance, so as not to offend the millions in the west who are increasingly accepting homosexuality as a valid lifestyle.  But in Africa, where culturally most Africans still strongly oppose homosexuality, Francis could proclaim a far stronger pro-family (and thus indirectly anti-homosexuality) message.

The third reason for his visit: to preach his favourite Socialist messages of Socialism and radical environmentalism, both of which are aimed at increasing Papal power.  “Business Day focussed on how the papal visit is timely in a push for the sustainable use of resources, and how the Pope had criticised trickle-down economics in defence of the world’s poor.  The paper said that Francis is ‘an advocate of radical change in the global economic order.’”[1] He certainly is, as I have shown in various articles.[2]

And the fourth reason for the visit: to strengthen African Roman Catholicism as it faces challenges from various other quarters.  “These include the clash between traditional customs, like ancestor veneration and church teaching.  Charismatic churches are springing up all over the continent and many Africans (and Catholics) are attracted to the healing power such congregations claim to have.  Polygamy, which is directly at odds with Catholic teaching, is also practiced in parts of Africa…. A number of priests have also left the Church rather then follow the celibate life of the Catholic priesthood.  In a society that places high value on marriage and childbearing, the church’s discipline of celibacy is often questioned in Africa.”[3]
