The Lying “Lady” of Fatima

Kaarsen in fatima

Seers and Secrets, Deception and Delusion, and the Politics of Global Power

Shaun Willcock

The famous apparitions of “Mary” at Fatima, a small town in northern Portugal, allegedly occurred on six occasions between May and October 1917, when “Mary” supposedly appeared to three child shepherds and entrusted them with three great messages (called “secrets”).  The children were Lucia dos Santos, and siblings Francisco and Jacinta Marto.  At the time when “Mary” supposedly appeared to them. Lucia was 10, Francisco 9, and Jacinta 7.  Lucia became a cloistered nun in later years, but Francisco and Jacinta died at a very young age.

1917 occurred in the midst of World War One, a war such as the world had never experienced before.  In that year the Roman pope, Benedict XV, appealed to the world for prayer for peace to be offered, not to Christ but to Mary, the Roman Catholic idol-goddess.  A mere eight days later, on 13 May 1917, it was claimed that “Mary” appeared to the three children near Fatima.  And it was during the “vision” of 13 July that the “three secrets” were supposedly given.

The cult of Fatima grew and spread very rapidly.  The number of pilgrims was only 60 on 13 June 1917, but by October of that year it had shot up to 60 000.  The number continued to rise, from 144 000 in 1923 to 588 000 in 1928.[1]

The “Three Secrets” of Fatima, and the “Miracle of the Dancing Sun”

The “first secret” of the Fatima “revelations” was supposedly a vision of hell.  Although they claimed this “vision” lasted only a moment, it shocked the three children so greatly that for the rest of their lives, we are told, they prayed for the conversion of sinners.  “There were devils and souls submerged in a great sea of fire… between cries of pain and groans of despair.  That horrified them and made them tremble with fear.”[2]

The “second secret” of Fatima was, supposedly, a prophecy.  “Mary” told the children that if men did not stop offending God, World War Two would begin.  She also told them that Communism would expand, and that there would be persecution of the “Church” (the Roman Catholic institution) and of the pope of Rome himself.  To prevent these evils, “Mary” asked for the devotion to her “Immaculate Heart” to be established in the world, and for the pope to consecrate Russia to her.  Here, supposedly, are her words to the children:

“The war [the First World War, then raging] is going to end.  But if people do not stop offending God, another and worse one will begin in the reign of Pius XI.  When you shall see a night illuminated by an unknown light, know that this is the great sign that God gives you that He is going to punish the world for its many crimes by means of war, hunger, and persecution of the Church [meaning the “Church” of Rome] and the Holy Father.  To prevent this, I shall come to ask for the consecration of Russia to my Immaculate Heart, and the Communion of Reparation on the First Saturdays.  If my requests are heeded, Russia will be converted, and there will be peace; if not, she will spread her errors throughout the world, causing wars and persecutions of the Church.  The good will be martyred; the Holy Father will have much to suffer; various nations will be annihilated…. In the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph.  The Holy Father will consecrate Russia to me, and she shall be converted, and a period of peace will be granted to the world.”

As for the “third secret” of Fatima, this was not revealed, but supposedly written down by Lucia many years later, and placed in a sealed envelope which was given to the Romish bishop of Fatima, only to be opened in the year 1960.[3]  But as this “third secret” was not revealed to the world by the pope until (so the Vatican claims) the year 2000, it will be analysed at the appropriate place in this article.

And then also, on 13 October 1917 – the date of the last of the six Marian apparitions at Fatima – the so-called “Miracle of the Sun” is alleged to have occurred.  We are told, by Roman Catholic historians of Fatima, that some 70 000 people, who had gathered around the three children, witnessed this “miracle” for about ten to twelve minutes.  Lucia pointed up and said, “Look at the sun”, and the immense crowd looked into the sky.  The sun supposedly became pale; it spun three times on itself speedily, whirling and casting off great shafts of multi-coloured light; then it seemed to jump out of its orbit and come forward towards the people on a zig-zag course, causing them to cry out in terror and beg “Mary” to save them from their sins; then it stopped, and returned again to its normal position.

But were the Fatima “visions”, and the solar “miracle”, genuine?

Of Indulgence and Scapulas

A Peasant Girl buying an IndulgenceThe Pope of Rome and the Propaganda, taking into consideration the savage ignorance of Americans, deemed it prudent to substitute some other name for the usual name indulgences, and something else for the usual document specifying the nature of the indulgence which was given to pious sinners in “the New World:” they thought it possible that Yankees might have the curiosity to read the written indulgences. This, said they in their wisdom, must be prevented; and here is a case where our doctrine of pious frauds comes beautifully into play. After singing the “Veni Creator spiritus”—as usual in such cases—they resolved that indulgences should be in future called Scapulas, and thus piously enable all Roman Catholic priests and bishops to swear on the Holy Evangelists that no indulgences were ever sold in the United States. This is what holy mother calls pious fraud.

Another Mass Grave of Babies Who Died Under the “Tender” Care of Nuns

Shaun Willcock, Bible Based Ministries:

It is like something out of the Dark Ages.  But it is unfolding right now in Ireland.

Whenever Protestants spoke or wrote in the past about how babies were discarded by nuns into unmarked graves, Rome always dismissed such allegations as nothing but Protestant “Rome-bashing”.  But even today, evidence is surfacing that it really did happen – and not a few times, but multiplied hundreds of times.

In 2009, I wrote an article entitled A Mass Grave of Babies and the Lie of “Limbo”,[1] in which I gave the details of a mass grave, in an unmarked site, of thousands of unwanted babies found at Milltown Cemetery, which is in predominantly Roman Catholic west Belfast, Northern Ireland.  The babies buried there were children of Roman Catholics who died in infancy, before they could receive the Roman Catholic rite of “baptism”, between the 1940s and 1970s.

Now, in the last few years, a second mass grave has come to light, this time in Tuam, County Galway, in the Republic of Ireland.  And it is estimated that this forgotten grave contains the remains of a staggering almost 800 babies!

The site is located at what was a home for unmarried mothers from the 1920s until the 1960s.  During this forty-year period, infant mortality was very high.  It is believed that many of the children died from malnutrition and infectious diseases.  But here’s the shocker: the home was run by the Bon Secours Roman Catholic order of nuns!

Yes, nuns – those women who fool Papists and gullible Protestants alike with their mask of “sanctity” and “other-worldliness”.  Those women who are considered, by millions, to be holy and godly, serving God.  Those women who for centuries have been engaged in such works as nursing the sick and educating children.  Surprise! – it turns out they are sinners like everyone else, and moreover, often even more heartless and cruel than others (this of course comes as no surprise to Christians who understand the horrible nature of Roman Catholicism and the kind of monsters it so often breeds behind the walls of convents and monasteries, but it comes as a huge surprise to the people of the world, so used to viewing nuns as “holy” women of God).  Yes, of course there are nuns who are kind-hearted, caring, merciful and sweet (even though they are not true Christians); but this does not negate the fact that multitudes of them have been blind servants of the priests, hard and cruel women who have made life in convents a living death for so many poor girls trapped therein.

People who had once been residents at this nun-run home said they were treated very harshly.  “Some of the children from the home would attend the local school,” said Catherine Corless, a local historian and genealogist, who was researching the home.  “They were treated differently, went home earlier, and were all shipped off to an industrial school when they were around seven years old.”[2]

How was the discovery made?

Spies For The Priests

Former priest William Hogan on further dangers of the confessional in the 1800s:

Grandville Cent Proverbes page185Judge you, Americans, what safety there is for your republic, while you support and sustain among you a sect numbering two millions, who are sworn to uphold such doctrines as the foregoing. The very domestics in your houses are spies for the priests. Nothing transpires under your own roofs which is not immediately known to the bishop or priest to whom your servants confess. But you may say, “The confessor will not reveal it.” Here you are partly right, and partly, mistaken; and it is proper to explain the course adopted by priests in such matters as confession.

If it be the interest of the church, that what is confessed should be made public, the priest tells the party to make it known to him, “out of the confessional,” and then he uses it to suit his own views; perhaps for the destruction of the reputation, or fortune, of the very man, or family, employing domestic. But it may be replied that Roman Catholics are good-natured people; that they are generous and industrious. Admitted: I will even go further; there is not a people in the world moreso. Nature has done much for them, especially those of them who are natives of Ireland; but the lack of a correct education has corrupted their hearts and imbittered their feelings; they are not to be trusted with the care or management of the animals of Protestant families.

Under Pain of Being Damned

Lateran-council-5

We find in another part of the decrees of the council of Lateran, held under Pope Innocent III., the following denunciation:—”All magistrates who interpose against priests in any criminal case, whether it be for murder or high treason, let him be excommunicated.” Bear that in mind, American Protestants! If a priest murder one of you, if he commit high treason against your government, your magistrates dare not interfere, under pain of being damned. So says the infallible Roman church; and so will she act, should she ever acquire the power of doing so, in this country.

~William Hogan, Popery! As it Was and as it Is, Popish Bishops and Priests Absolve Allegiance to Protestant Governments

He Knows It As God

William Hogan on the power of the confessional:

Artgate Fondazione Cariplo - Molteni Giuseppe, La confessioneI must be permitted here to remind Americans, that all Roman Catholics are taught to believe, and distinctly to understand, that whatever they confess to their priests, is not to be revealed; nor is the individual, who confesses, permitted to reveal whatever the priest says or does to him or her, except to another priest. For instance, should a priest insult or attempt to seduce a woman, and succeed in doing so, she dare not reveal it under pain of damnation, except to another priest in confession, who is bound also to secrecy; and thus, priests, bishops, popes, and all females of that denomination, may be guilty of licentiousness,—the bare mention of which would pollute the pages of this or any other work,—with impunity. The priests can first pardon the woman, and then themselves, according to the doctrines of the infallible church of Rome. This is not all. It is not enough that the sanction of the church should be given to these enormities; but priests also claim the right of concealing, from the civil authorities, any knowledge which they may have of crimes against the state as well as the power of forgiving them. The following is the language of the church upon that subject. Attend to it, fellow citizens, and tremble at the dangers that threaten the destruction of your republic, from the introduction of Popery among you.

“Although the life or salvation of a man, or the ruin of the state, should depend upon it, what is discovered in confession cannot be revealed. The secret of the seal—confession—is more binding than the obligation of an oath.” If a confessor is asked, what he knows of a fact communicated to him, he must answer that he does not know it; and, if necessary, confirm it by an oath; and “this is no perjury,” says the Popish church, “because he knows it not as man, but as GOD.” There is Popery for you, in its naked beauty! If a man wishes to murder, or to rob you, he may go to his priest, apprize him of his intention, confess to him that he will assuredly murder and rob you, or that he has done so already, and yet this priest may be your next door neighbor, and he will not make it known; and why, reader? Because he knows it as God, and as God he tells the murderer to come to him and he will forgive him.

He Who Argues With Catholic Priests

DebateBetweenCatholicsAndOrientalChristiansInThe13thCenturyAcre1290

“He who argues with Catholic priests must have had his education with them; he must be of them and from among them. He must know, from experience, that they will stop at no falsehood where the good of the church is concerned; he must know that they will scruple at no forgery when they desire to establish any point of doctrine, fundamental or not fundamental, which is taught by their church; he must be aware that it is a standing rule with Popish priests, in all their controversies with Protestants, to admit nothing and deny every thing, and that, if still driven into difficulty, they will still have recourse to the archives of the church, where they keep piles of decretals, canons, rescripts, bulls, excommunications, interdicts, &c, ready for all such emergencies; some of them dated from three hundred to a thousand years before they were written or even thought of; showing more clearly, perhaps, than anything else, the extreme ignorance of mankind between the third and ninth centuries, when most of these forgeries were palmed upon the world.”
