Some recentish Rome and eschatology-related headlines:
…which threatens globalism…
From a December 30, 2016 article:
European Union (EU) nations must set up a network of public agencies to remove ‘fake news’ from circulation and impose fines, Italy’s antitrust chief has said.
Asserting that ‘fake news’ is driving populism, Giovanni Pitruzzella told the Financial Times the internet must not be allowed to remain a “wild west”.
Shaun Willcock of Bible Based Ministries:
Articles sufficient to fill libraries have been written, and will yet be written, by those inside the U.S. and around the world, analysing the victory of Donald Trump over that Jezebel, Hillary Clinton, in the 2016 presidential election, and it is not my intention to write reams about it myself, repeating what so many others have said. But a few comments are in order, from one who is an outsider looking in, who loves the great land of America.
It was certainly an astounding victory, considering the forces ranged against him. No question about that. The entire leftist-dominated media, worldwide, was against him, and attacked him in every possible way. The pope of Rome has no love for him, especially since he threatened to close the porous U.S.-Mexico border to the tens of thousands of illegal Roman Catholics from Central and South America who are flooding into the U.S., and the pope’s opposition to him meant millions of Roman Catholics were opposed to him as well…
Far from being unique, he is simply the loudest, the most outrageous and now the most powerful standard-bearer for a wave of nationalism that is utterly transforming the politics of the Western world and the balance of power for a generation to come.
JERUSALEM — Donald J. Trump’s stunning election victory on Tuesday night rippled way beyond the nation’s boundaries, upending an international order that prevailed for decades and raising profound questions about America’s place in the world.
For the first time since before World War II, Americans chose a president who promised to reverse the internationalism practiced by predecessors of both parties and to build walls both physical and metaphorical.
They awakened the sleeping giant, the great middle class of America. On this historic night, the average citizens of the United States roared and joined Brexit in voting against globalism and in favor of nationalism.
Some people are comparing the Brexit vote and even Donald Trump to the Magna Carta and the Declaration of Independence. There are clear similarities.
The Brexit vote was about divorcing Britain from the overbearing socialist bureaucrats in Brussels. Trump’s presidential campaign was about destroying the overbearing globalist elitists in Washington – regardless of their party affiliation.
The self-governing citizens of the United States have decided that they have had enough of their elite, globalist, one-world leadership and have thrown them out.
“It is all part of the same thing,” Coulter said about the issues Trump won on: Jobs, economy, immigration, and trade.
“That is globalism vs. nationality.”
So in one year, we’ve had Brexit (hopefully still in progress) and now a possible Amerexit from the global order. We see a slow turning against the attempt to create a one world totalitarian government. This is consistent with a historicist interpretation of Revelation 16 and 17, where the globalists eventually turn on the papacy and destroy it after becoming disillusioned with its agenda. One can only hope this is the beginning of the end for the papacy and the start of the liberation of the nations.
It is interesting to me that some interpreters see the situation coming to a head in 2017:
“The downfall of the Papacy, according to Fleming, is going on; the Mohammedan Antichrist will follow, and about A.D. 2000 (Jewish reckoning, about 2017 on the Julian calendar–RB), the millennial epoch will begin. ” Source: Puritan Downloads
Time will tell if that is the case (at least one writer thinks it isn’t). If so, we are in for an interesting ride over the next few months.
From a recent article on the Canada-EU trade talk failure, as well as the growing opposition to the TPP in the United States:
“It is a sharp reversal of a quarter-century since the fall of the Berlin Wall of support in the world’s leading economies for freer trade and globalization. Now, the enthusiasm for breaking down borders appears to be fizzling out.”
Here is an article from 2013 that makes some interesting observations.
On the one hand, the article notes that there is a feverish attempt at creating a one world government:
Over the last decade the global elite have been on a mad dash to consolidate power over the world…
Although the elite still enjoy a huge wealth advantage over the masses, they are now resigned to behaving like tyrants to maintain control. This, in turn, exposes their dark side which has been cleverly concealed for ages. Not anymore.
Yet, on the other hand, the article also states that more and more people are turning against the global order:
People are waking up in droves..
The article then gives 10 signs that the global elite are losing control. One of them concerns the Vatican:
Under the previous Pope, Pope Benedict, scandals erupted from the Vatican ranging from covering up pedophile priests to money laundering and fraud. Benedict, in an unprecedented move, abruptly retired to make way for a seemingly much more likable Pope Francis. Pope Francis by all measures is working furiously to reclaim the church’s peaceful and humble reputation. Whether this is genuine or a PR move, it’s telling that the church was forced into such a drastic turnaround to save itself from losing all credibility.
Rome used to be able to do whatever it wanted. Not anymore. Pope Francis I seems to have increased Rome’s popularity but time will tell how long it will last.
In Earthquake in Bible Prophecy, I noted how the term “earthquake” in prophetic literature often symbolizes a major political, religious, social, etc. upheaval. Last week, with Britain’s yes vote on Brexit, it was interesting to see that the newspapers employed seismic language in their coverage of the event. For instance, here is a headline from the Daily Mail [emphasis mine]:
The headline for the same article on the front page actually used the word “earthquake.”
Here is another headline:
In addition, the article, DOMINIC SANDBROOK: As a historian, I can assure you this is the most tumultuous event of modern times, a people’s revolt against the elite that’s been brewing for years contains the following statements [emphasis mine]:
This was not merely an electoral earthquake. It was a popular revolt by vast swathes of England and Wales against the political, financial and cultural elite, whose complacent assumptions have been simply blown away.
What happened was undoubtedly the most dramatic, the most shocking and even the most revolutionary event in our modern history. We will live with the consequences for the rest of our lives.
And here are some headlines describing some of the repercussions of the Out vote:
In Revelation 16, we read about how the kings of the earth will unite together against God in an effort to build a one-world anti-Christian government, economy, and religion. Like the Tower of Babel, their effort will only go so far and then God will pull the plug, at which point this will happen [emphasis mine]:
Revelation 16:17-18 And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done. And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great.
Of the term “earthquake” in the Book of Revelation, Albert Barnes writes on Revelation 6:12 in his Notes on the Bible:
An earthquake, if there were no other circumstances limiting and explaining the symbol, would merely denote great agitation and commotion – as if states and empires were tumbling to ruin.
And here, before our very eyes, we see the possibility that the EU and the global empire could tumble to ruin.
Is this the earthquake described in Revelation 16? It’s hard to say at this time. The Pope has been quoted as follows:
Francis told reporters en route to Armenia on Friday that the decision places ‘a great responsibility on all of us to guarantee the well-being of the people of the United Kingdom.’
He said it also will require all to ‘take responsibility for the well-being and coexistence of the entire European continent.’ (Source).
It would appear that he is not yet done with his goal of uniting the whole world under his power. Neither are the “kings” aligned with him, as can be seen from these headlines:
Whether or not a bigger earthquake is yet to come, we can be sure that the papacy’s time will come. It will be accompanied by the following:
- The international community, including Western Europe, will continue to turn against the Pope
- The international community will abandon the papacy
- The international community will take away papal authority
- The international community will destroy the papacy
(Source: John’s Revelation Unveiled by F.N. Lee, page 235 and following)
Here is Albert Barnes again on Revelation 17: 16 and 18:
This statement will be accomplished if these same powers, represented by the ten horns, that were formerly in alliance with the papacy, shall become its enemy, and contribute to its final overthrow. That is, it will be accomplished if the nations of Europe, embraced within the limits of those ten kingdoms, shall become hostile to the papacy, and shall combine for its overthrow. Is anything more probable than this?
Europe needs but little further provocation, and the fires of liberty, which have been so long pent up, will break forth, and that storm of indignation which has expelled the Jesuits from all the courts of Europe; which has abolished the Inquisition; which has more than once led hostile armies to the very gates of papal Rome, will again be aroused in a manner which cannot be allayed, and that mighty power, which has controlled so large a part of the nations of Europe for more than a thousand years of the world’s history, will come to an end.
May the fires of liberty burn once again – and soon.
Revelation 16:13-16: And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty. Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame. And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.
This prophecy, made 2000 years ago, foresaw a time when Antichrist would attempt to gather the whole world under his control against the Lord Jesus Christ. He would use demonic powers to help him persuade the kings of the earth and the whole world to follow him. He would gather together those loyal to the Papacy, Islam, Apostate Protestantism, and all other non-Christian religions. They would help him try to eliminate biblical Christianity once and for all in their last great opposition against Almighty God and His followers. And they are gathering in that opposition today.
Said the current pope this past March: “All of us together, Muslims, Hindus, Catholics, Copts, Evangelical [Protestants] brothers and sisters — children of the same God — we want to live in peace, integrated.”
And more recently we read that this past May, “Pope Francis embraced the grand imam of Cairo’s Al-Azhar Mosque at the Vatican on Monday in a historic encounter both sides hope will lead to greater understanding and dialogue between the two faiths.” And “A statement quoted Tayeb as telling Francis: “We need to take a joint stance, hand in hand, to bring happiness to humanity. Divine religions were revealed to make people happy, not to cause them hardship.””
It’s not just religious leaders yoking with the Pope. High-level politicians from around the world are doing the same thing. One such politician is presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders, who stated regarding a recent visit with the Pope that “This is an invitation from the Vatican, from a pope that I have enormous respect for in term of the level of consciousness that he’s raising on the need to have morality in our economy.” (Isn’t it interesting how socialists can invoke religion whenever it suits their purposes?).
From a human perspective, it seems like nothing can stop this union. But as Christians, we have another perspective, a heavenly perspective that tells us that this union will fail just like every other rebellion against God. Francis Nigel Lee wrote that this would happen sometime before the Papacy achieved total one-world rule:
“It should be noted that all such Papal efforts will not prevail!
For, some time before the Vatican has achieved her objective of ruling the entire World (as Nimrod of old tried to do in Ancient Babylon) God will pour out the seventh and last vial of His wrath on the Great City and on the cities of the Nations.” [“John’s Revelation Unveiled” page 219]
A great international religious and political shake-up is coming. Hold fast, dear ones, and watch and keep your garments. The liberation of the nations will come in the not too distant future.
Ever onward toward a one world government:
Officials with the European Union and its formerly sovereign member states are conspiring to usurp control over national militaries, with a goal of eventually building a transnational EU military loyal only to the unelected regime ruling Europe from Brussels. Outrage surrounding the plot, however, is growing.
“United Nations (United States) (AFP) – A UN study of new sources of financing for its multi-billion-dollar aid operations is recommending a voluntary tax on football matches or concerts as one option to raise funds.”
